With her pals Dino, Pebbles and Wilma, and filling the role of Fred Flinstone herself, Jacy Stone took the Fort Worth Stock Show’s goat decorating contest back in time Saturday.

In the end, Jacy provided a truly “Yabba Dabba Doo” fun time and captured her second victory at the Fort Worth show. The McCarroll Middle School sixth-grader and Wise County 4-H member won the 11-year-old class Saturday with her goats Bubbles and Nelly, and getting a special assist from best friend Emma Jones.

Jacy won the grand champion two years ago in the contest.

“It’s really fun. I love it. You get to be creative and you get to have fun making the costumes,” Jacy explained.

This year’s prehistoric entry was based on her mother Michelle’s favorite cartoon “The Flintstones.”

Goat Nelly, who is named after Jacy’s grandmother, Idnel Stone, played the role of Pebbles, wearing a green top. In his purple top, Bubbles was Dino, the iconic pet dinosaur of the Flintstones.

Emma donned the orange wig and white dress as Wilma. Jacy wore the familiar orange shirt and blue tie of Fred.

Jacy said her grandmother made the dress for Wilma. Jacy worked with her mother to come up with the other costumes.

“Dino’s is a purple onesie we got off Amazon,” Jacy explained. “For Pebbles, we cut the sleeves off a regular T-shirt and put dots on it.”

To finish off Pebbles’ outfit, they fashioned a headband with a bone in it.

Before getting started on the costumes the Stones fashioned a replica of the Flintstones’ car.

“We started out with a cardboard box,” Jacy said. “We made a cutout for a Bedrock license plate. For the wheels, we glued two paper plates together.”

A pair of burlap straps were attached to the car to allow Emma and Jacy to hold it up.

“They were super itchy,” Jacy said.

Jacy said Nelly tested her patience during the contest, while Bubbles was very docile.

“[Nelly] jumped on a judge,” Jacy said. “Bubbles did perfect. He just stood there.”

Jacy will now start getting ready for the dog show and the baking contests at the Wise County Youth Fair. In the back of her mind, she’s already thinking about next year’s goat decorating contest.
