#1 STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET
The cross country season culminates Saturday with the UIL cross country championships at Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park.
Five Wise County teams and one individual will compete. The Alvord Lady Bulldogs, Boyd Yellowjackets, Decatur Lady Eagles, Decatur Eagles and Slidell Greyhounds all qualified for state, as well as Chico freshman Aereonna Cardenas.
#2 WHO LET THE GIRLS OUT
Time to live it up, girlfriends. Who Let the Girls Out – Merry and Bright Holiday Edition is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on Halsell Street in Bridgeport.
Round up your best gal pals and go downtown for a fun day of shopping, as well as DIY activities, exercise, raffles and of course, food and drink!
Event check-in is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Arcadia Theater. The first 150 women receive a free event T-shirt and shopping bag.
#3 HONORING VETERANS
Veterans Day is Nov. 11, but there are some activities honoring veterans Saturday.
The Rhome Veterans are dedicating a new memorial stone at the Rhome Veterans Memorial Park in conjunction with a large celebration.
Highlights include a parade, car show, vendors and kids activities.
Our annual Veterans Day section will be inserted in the weekend Messenger.
