POWER OUTAGE SCHEDULED IN DECATUR AREA — Several Wise Electric Cooperative customers in Decatur could be without power for a short time on Friday due to a scheduled maintenance project. The outage will begin at 1 p.m. and can be expected to last up to one hour. The outage will affect cooperative member consumers located from County Road 3001 and continuing east down Preskitt Road toward Decatur including doctor’s offices located near the intersection of Farm Road 51 and Preskitt Road, according to information provided by the electric cooperative. Member consumers located on Bennett Road toward James Wood Motors and continuing toward Wise Honda, Karl Klement Ford, TA Travel Center, and the Decatur ISD campuses of Decatur High School and Carson Elementary will also be affected. Oncor customers will not be affected.

LADY JACKETS RETURN TO STATE TOURNAMENT — Boyd (34-9) earned its second straight trip to the 3A Division II state tournament by outlasting District 10-3A rival Paradise (31-14) in a 5-set 3AII Region II final battle Tuesday at Chico High School — 25-20, 25-22, 25-27, 22-25, 15-13. The Lady Jackets will face Wall in the state semifinals 3 p.m. Saturday at Wichita Falls Legacy High School.

GIRLS BASKETBALL RESULTS — Chico (1-1) earned its first win by defeating Petrolia Tuesday, 36-34. Alvord (0-1) opened its 2025 campaign with a 40-24 loss to Pilot Point. On Monday, Paradise improved to 2-0 after a 75-30 win over Slidell (1-1) in a Wise County matchup. Boyd (1-1) suffered its first defeat in a 47-32 loss to Bowie.

THANKSGIVING BARBECUE SALE — Greenwood Masonic Lodge is holding its Thanksgiving Barbecue Sale. Brisket, ham, turkey breast, sausage and ribs will be available for purchase. Pickup 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 22. Order at 940-399-8594.

LIBRARY STORYTIME — Storytime will be held at Decatur Public Library today and next Wednesday, Nov. 19. Ages 3-5 are invited for Wonders and Wiggles at 10 a.m., and ages 0-5 are invited to Books and Giggles at 10:45 a.m.

LEARN ABOUT FOSTERING — Cumberland Youth and Family Services will be at Decatur Public Library 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss how your family can become a foster family.

CHILI SUPPER — The Greater Runaway Bay Alliance will host its Chili Supper 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Runaway Bay Event Center. Adult presale tickets are $8. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 5. Bingo will also be played with proceeds going to the Fireworks Fund.

TURKEY TROT — A Turkey Trot will be held as part of the Smoke on the Water barbecue cookoff event in Runaway Bay Saturday. The 5K run starts at 10 a.m. at 513 Port O’ Call. Registration is $35, and proceeds the fireworks show. Visit wcmess.com/rbturkeytrot25.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON — The Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Conference Center. It will feature a special presentation of the 2025 Citizen of the Year and recognition of member milestone honors. RSVP by noon Thursday.

AGGIE MOMS FUNDRAISER — The Wise County Aggie Moms Cinnamon Roll Fundraiser is taking place now through Nov. 25. Pre-orders can be made at wcmess.com/aggierolls25. Proceeds go to scholarship funds for current Texas A&M students from Wise and Montague counties.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY — Bridgeport Mobile Pantry at First Methodist Church is 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Vehicles can line up in the middle school parking lot before 7:15 or after 7:40 a.m. There will be vegetables, fruit, protein and other food for 275 families. Volunteers are needed at the church starting at 6:45.

MEDICARE INFORMATION — Medicare Advisor Wes Carter will be at Decatur Public Library noon today. Patrons are encouraged to bring all questions they may have about Medicare.

FUNERALS — Service for Dorrel Fred Jones, 94, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

NO SERVICE is scheduled for Randall Lynn Marshall, 72, of Sunset. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Brandy Ann Fleming Garcia, 50, of Grapevine is 11 a.m. today at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Cumby Cemetery.

MEMORIAL service for Carla S. Larkin, 74, of Runaway Bay is 5 p.m. Saturday at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

SERVICE for Lou Anne McCarroll, 72, of Slidell is 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Denton.
