2 JAILED FOR MURDER IN MISSING TEEN CASE — A Decatur teenager and a juvenile male have been arrested and charged with murder in the case of missing 19-year-old Matthew Ryan Brown of Decatur. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said information provided by the two suspects led them to the discovery of a body, believed to be that of Brown, in the Deep Creek area near Boyd Tuesday morning. Brown had been missing since Sunday, March 5. Austin James Acree, 17, of Decatur was arrested on a first degree felony charge of murder Tuesday and has bond set at $100,000, according to Wise County Jail records. Akin said the juvenile, whose name and age were not released, has also been charged with murder in the case. Brown was last seen near his home off Farm Road 2264 in the Oliver Creek area between New Fairview and Decatur on March 5. He was reported missing the next day. The body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. BRIDGEPORT HAZING INVESTIGATION — The Bridgeport Police Department and Bridgeport ISD are conducting an investigation into the high school boys soccer program after receiving reports of an alleged hazing incident. Police Chief Steve Stanford confirmed his department began its investigation shortly before spring break. “We’re in the process of interviewing victims, witnesses and potential suspects. We were notified initially in conjunction with the school administration, and we were also contacted by a parent of an additional incident,” he said. On Monday, Bridgeport ISD superintendent Amy Ellis released a statement acknowledging the investigation. “We take reports like this very seriously, and will conduct investigations with the individuals involved and the Bridgeport Police Department,” Ellis’ statement read. “In light of the ongoing investigation and student privacy laws, we cannot provide specific details regarding this investigation.” Staff have been directed to ensure that details of the ongoing investigation are not discussed. SLIDELL MAN KILLED IN CRASH — A single-vehicle crash early Monday morning resulted in the death of a Slidell resident. Travis Nathaniel Robinson, 22, was northbound on Farm Road 51 near Farm Road 1204 in a 2015 Ford F-250 when it veered off the roadway, rolled over and caught fire, according to Sgt. Tony De La Cerda, media spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. The wreck happened at 12:48 a.m. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to DPS.

BASEBALL RESULTS — Decatur (6-9-2) started off its District 8-4A schedule with a 6-0 win over Castleberry Tuesday. Blake Delong threw a no-hitter, with 14 strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game effort. Bridgeport (10-8, 0-1) dropped its league opener against Krum, 8-0. Paradise (6-9-1, 2-1) knocked off 10-3A rival Whitesboro, 4-3. Braden Wilson finished with 13 strikeouts. Alvord (10-5) improved to 3-0 in 10-2A with a 16-5 rout over Perrin-Whitt. Declan McDaniel went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Rhett Stovall struck out 11.

SOFTBALL RESULTS — Decatur (15-6-1, 1-0), ranked 23rd in this week’s TGCA 4A poll, earned its first District 8-4A win with a 12-2 victory over Springtown Tuesday. Bridgeport (11-8, 1-0) routed Castleberry for its first league win, 16-0. Bailey Brichetto was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Iva Marquesen launched a 2-run home run over the center field wall. Behind 11 strikeouts from Mekenzie Wilson, Boyd (16-7, 3-2) claimed a narrow 5-4 win over Paradise (15-6, 1-4) in the first 10-3A Battle of 114. Paradise’s Brooklyn Force finished with a triple and two RBIs. Alvord (7-18, 2-3) fell to 10-2A foe Era in a high-scoring affair, 20-18. Chico (3-3, 1-2) was defeated by Graford, 8-2.

NETWORKING MIXER — The Wise County Chamber and City of New Fairview invites professionals to connect, collaborate and grow at its Networking Mixer 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at New Fairview City Hall. Finger foods, fruit and drinks will be provided.

AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MEETING — The West Fork Amateur Radio Club meets 7 p.m. Thursday at the Paradise Volunteer Fire Department. Steve Lott Smith KG5VK, ARRL North Texas Section Manager, will be guest speaker.

WCVG GOLF TOURNEY — The Wise County Veterans Group is hosting a golf tournament Saturday to help raise awareness and raise funds for the Cost of Freedom Tribute Wall which will be displayed in Wise County next week. TRACK — Bridgeport and Boyd will compete at the Springtown meet today. Paradise will participate in the Jacksboro meet. Slidell will run at the Muenster meet.

BASEBALL — Due to field conditions Tuesday, Boyd (14-4, 2-0) will now face District 10-3A foe Valley View 5:30 p.m. today at Valley View High School.
