COLE RETURNING TO DA’S OFFICE – Tim Cole is returning to the 271st district attorney’s office in Wise County. District Attorney Greg Lowery Tuesday asked county commissioners to approve a budget amendment, giving his office more money that would allow him to hire Cole as an assistant district attorney. Cole, who was an assistant DA in Wise County from 2010 to 2014, also served as district attorney in the 97th District. Lowery does not yet have a start date for Cole. HODGES RUNNING FOR CONSTABLE – Chris Hodges of Paradise announced he’s running for Precinct 4 constable. He will be on the Republican ballot in the March 3 primary election. Hodges is a U.S. Navy veteran and former Wise County sheriff’s deputy. Read more in the weekend Wise County Messenger on newsstands Saturday.

FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS – The Bridgeport Bulls and Chico Dragons start the playoffs tonight. The Bulls take on Glen Rose at 7 p.m. at Aledo. Chico faces Hawley at 7 p.m. at Mineral Wells.

COLLEGE SIGNINGS – Bridgeport two-time state medalist Jadon Maddux signed with the University of Florida for track Wednesday. Decatur’s Madison Lowery inked with Division I Coastal Carolina for volleyball. Decatur’s Chase Oberle signed with Howard College for baseball. Boyd’s Lane Wilson signed with Northwestern Oklahoma State for baseball. Boyd’s Boston McIntire will sign with Luna Community College today.

LIBRARY MOVIE NIGHT – Tonight is Movie Night at Decatur Public Library. They’ll be showing “The Dead Pool,” starring Clint Eastwood, at 7 p.m. Come early and snag some sweet props. Call the library at 940-393-0290.

WISE GIVES – Wise Health System is partnering with Acts for Others to host Wise Gives, a charitable fair, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 7 at Fit-N-Wise, 609 Medical Center Dr., in Decatur. Free services will be offered including: hair cuts, eye exams, flu shots, legal aid, a food pantry, health screenings, financial counseling, car seat safety and cooking demonstrations, just to name a few. There will also be a kids zone and pictures with Santa. Lunch will be served starting at 10. More than 60 volunteers will be needed. Sign up at volunteersignup.org/QALDQ.

BAKE SALE – Sparkler Dance Teams from Miss Twister Dance Company have been invited to dance at Disney in January. A fundraiser bake sale will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply in Decatur.

REALTORS MEETING – The Greater Denton/Wise Association of Realtors will hold a Wise County Networking Luncheon 11:30 a.m. Nov. 22 at the Decatur Conference Center. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin will be the guest speaker. Registration is $20 per person. Guests are encouraged to bring unwrapped toy for Santa Cops. To RSVP, call 940-387-8212.

LIBRARY PLEDGES – An anonymous donor offered to match up to $25,000 in pledges made by this Friday to the Decatur Public Library to complement the Weaver Fund, which totals almost $900,000. The donor also noted $25,000 doubled represents the 50th anniversary of the library, which is in 2020. To make a pledge, pick up a form at the library, 1700 Farm Road 51 South. Pledges can be a one-time donation or paid out over the year with a deadline of Sept. 15, 2020. Call 940-393-0290.
