S.O. SEEKS IDS OF BURGLARS – The Wise County Sheriff’s Office needs help identifying individuals in surveillance video from a pair of burglaries in the Rhome area earlier this month. The S.O. issued a Crime Stoppers message Monday on social media with photos of the individuals from the two burglaries – one at a business on U.S. 81/287 south of Rhome July 11 and the other at a residence near Rhome July 8. Both incidents occurred at night, but according to investigators, they are not the same people. Information can be submitted to the WCSO through the Crime Stoppers tip line at 940-627-8477 or by calling the office at 940-627-5971. ACTIVE CASES REMAIN AT 30 – The Department of State Health Services Wednesday confirmed five COVID-19 cases and five recoveries in Wise County, which held the total active case count at 30. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 6,285 tests conducted at local facilities with 309 of those confirmed positives, 274 recoveries and five deaths. The positive test ratio in Wise County is at 4.92 percent, the highest since the start of the pandemic. HOT DAY, STORMS – The heat and humidity will return to Wise County and North Texas today. The high temperature will be 98 with a heat index of 101. There is a 40 percent chance of storms overnight, which will usher in seasonably cool weather for the weekend with high temperatures in the high 80s and lows in the high 60s.

SUPERINTENDENT Q AND A – Decatur ISD Superintendent Joseph Coburn will hold a question and answer session on the district’s Facebook page at 6:30 tonight.

TSI TESTING AVAILABLE AT WCWC – The Weatherford College Wise County Testing Center will open in August for TSI testing only. Appointments are required and can be scheduled at wc.edu/wcwc-testing-center. For information, email wcwctesting@wc.edu.

CRAFT BEE – The MZ Bee will return 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Fellowship Hall at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 615 CR 1280, in Alvord. Bring your own projects, lunch and a snack to share if you wish. Enjoy fellowship, a free “make and take” and some other special surprises with other crafters. A refrigerator and microwave are available for use. There is no charge, but a $5 donation to the food pantry ministry for backpacks and Alvord Meals on Wheels is appreciated. SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – Cates Street Baptist Church, 107 FM 920 in Bridgeport, is partnering with Cates Street Church of Christ, FUMC of Bridgeport and Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church to provide 200 bags of school supplies, 200 hygiene bags and lunch at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

FUNERAL for Patrick D. Strickland, 72, of Crafton is 2 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins-Bridgeport. Open visitation is noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

FUNERAL for Harold Gene Wesley, 66, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Maureen “Mo” Mallory-Kline, 68, of Paradise is 3 p.m. Saturday at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

SERVICE for Jose Ortega, 94, of Bridgeport is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport with burial at 2 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Hudson & Torres Family is handling arrangements. Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE for Omadell Garnett, 94, formerly of Cottondale, is 11 a.m. Friday at Oaklawn Cemetery Pavillion. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Service will be handled by Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

SERVICE for Bibiana Herrera, 77, of Bridgeport is pending at Hawkins-Bridgeport.

NO SERVICES are scheduled at this time for Robert Huggins, 85, of Decatur; Michael Wayne Farris, 66, of Decatur; and Barbara Keller, 71, of Decatur.
