STORM CHANCES RETURN — After a quiet weekend, storm chances return to the forecast for Monday. The National Weather Service says we have a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4 p.m. Otherwise it will be mostly cloudy today and cooler with a high near 81 degrees.

DECATUR PD VACATION DAY — Decatur Police Department will host its annual summer vacation day June 20 and June 21 at 1601 S. State St. June 20 is for ages seven 7-10 and includes bike safety (bring a bike and helmet), water games (bring a swimsuit, towel and water shoes) and an anti-bullying program. June 21 is for ages five and six and includes fun activities with officers and water games. Registration applications can be picked up at Decatur Police Department or decaturtx.org. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

COLLINS SKILLS CAMP RETURNS TO PARADISE — For the second straight summer, local basketball athletes can better their skills on the court with help from a former Harlem Globetrotter. The Kingdom Hoops Collins Skills Camp is July 1-3 at Paradise High School Gymnasium. The camp will be divided into two sessions. Athletes entering second through sixth grades will participate from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while seventh through 10th graders will take the court from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Camp is restricted to participants only on Monday and Tuesday, while parents are allowed to observe during sessions on Wednesday. Similar to last year, the camp will be directed by Denison native Mandrae Collins, who played four years of collegiate basketball at Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. After college, he played with the legendary Globetrotters from 2006 to 2009. Collins will once again be joined at the camp by a former NBA legend at this summer’s camp. Camp registration cost is $249, and includes a camp T-shirt. Scholarships are available to cover the registration cost of athletes. DEMOCRATIC PARTY EVENT — The Wise County Democratic Party will hold a Meet and Greet event 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Inn and Suites in Decatur. This month’s program will be highlights from the just-completed Texas Democratic Convention in El Paso. Discussion topics will include education and school finance, Black caucus, veterans issues, labor progress, gun violence, Stonewall Caucus, Democrats with Disabilities, Tejano Democrats, reproductive freedom, Youth Caucus and Rural Caucus.

DECATUR CITY COUNCIL — The Decatur City Council tonight will consider and take possible action on approval of an interlocal agreement between Decatur and Boyd to allow the Decatur Police Department to provide dispatch services for the Boyd Police Department. The agreement must also be approved by the Boyd City Council. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Decatur City Hall, 201 E. Walnut.

BRIDGEPORT CITY COUNCIL — The Bridgeport City Council tonight will take possible action on a number of items, including approving an agreement with Billings Productions for the Jurassic Journey exhibit at Endeavor Bridgeport to be held next Spring and approving an agreement with Major Works in an amount of $1.5 million for asphalt rehabilitation for specific sections of streets identified by the city. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Bridgeport City Hall, 900 Thompson St.

WCCA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — The Wise County Committee on Aging is in need of volunteers for its Meals on Wheels routes. Drivers are needed for the Boyd route (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), Bridgeport route (Thursdays and Fridays) and the Decatur route (Fridays). Paid driver positions are also currently available. FUNERALS — Memorial for Sharran H. Brooks, 80, of Decatur will be held at a later date. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Janetta Wood, 63, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Decatur. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Hawkins-Decatur.

SERVICE for Robert Cook, 79, of Paradise is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

SERVICE for Royce Williams, 90, of Keller is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

FUNERAL for James “Don” Chambers, 71, of Paradise is 1 p.m. today at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Visitation is at noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
