FORMER TEACHER JAILED FOR RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT — A 6-month-long investigation into a former Boyd ISD teacher allegedly involved in a relationship with a high school student has resulted in an arrest. Stephanie Lynn McGilvray, 30, of Poolville was arrested Thursday morning and charged with one count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student. She was booked into the Parker County Jail, and then was transported to the Wise County Jail by Boyd Police Department officers later that day. McGilvray is a former agriculture teacher at Boyd High School. She was hired by the district in July 2023. According to Boyd Police Department Interim Chief Ryan Erwin, the investigation surrounding McGilvray began last September after authorities received a report of an educator allegedly sending inappropriate electronic communications to a student outside of school hours. Amid a joint investigation conducted by Boyd ISD and Boyd Police Department, McGilvray was placed on administrative leave by the district on September 26, 2024. She resigned from her position the following day. Wise County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Eric Debus confirmed McGilvray was booked into the Wise County Jail at about 5 p.m. Thursday.
