BOYD COUNCIL NAMES NEW DEPARTMENT HEADS — Familiar faces can be seen in leadership roles around the city of Boyd. Dwayne Taylor was named the new city administrator, Josh Compton was named police chief and Robert Lumpkin was named the director of public works in a city council meeting Thursday. All three individuals have previously served the city in other positions.
CRUISE NIGHT — Cruise Night on the Courthouse Square returns 4-8 p.m. Saturday to downtown Decatur. Registration is 4-6 p.m., $15 per vehicle. Awards in 20 classes. Streets will be closed for pedestrian traffic. Call 940-399-9558.

NEW FAIRVIEW TRAFFIC ALERT – U.S. 81/287 southbound will be reduced to one lane as needed from County Road 4228 to Farm Road 407 for maintenance activities from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 6-10 and June 13-17, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays.

CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE — The First United Methodist Church in Boyd will hold a church-wide rummage sale 8 a.m.-4 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

BLOOD DRIVE — A Carter BloodCare blood drive will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Chico Senior Center, 201 S. Buffalo St., during the Chico Spring Festival. Each blood donor will receive a free “Give for Texans” T-shirt while supplies last.

OWLS ACTIVITY CENTER — The Wise County Committee on Aging is holding a grand opening and ribbon cutting 11 a.m. today for the Owls Activity Center, 1200 North Miller Street. Lunch and ice cream will be provided.

FEEDING WISE KIDS GOLF TOURNAMENT — The Feeding Wise Kids Golf Tournament is 9 a.m. Saturday at RB Golf Club. Registration for the four-man scramble begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $500 per team. For information, call 940-389-5388 or 940-393-5334.

SPRING FEST — The Chico Public Library and Chico Chamber of Commerce will host Spring Fest 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Chico Historical Square. There will be a kids corner, bingo, raffles, food, crafts and more. Vendors are wanted and sponsors are welcomed. KID FISH — The Texas Game Warden Ronnie Brooks Memorial Kids Fish is 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Wise County Park. The event is free. Hot dogs, snacks, T-shirt and fishing pole for children 16 and under. Local game wardens and other volunteers will be on hand to assist.

COMMUNITY BREAKFAST — Greenwood Masonic Lodge 779 will host a community breakfast 7-9 a.m. Saturday. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted.

GREENWOOD HOMECOMING — The annual Greenwood Homecoming is Sunday at Greenwood Fire Hall in downtown Greenwood. A meet and greet is at 11:30 a.m. followed by a pot luck luncheon at noon. A brief meeting will follow the luncheon.

DECATUR MOBILE FOOD PANTRY — Decatur Cares Mobile Food Pantry is 8-9 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Decatur parking lot. The pantry will use a drive-thru setup. All participants will remain in their cars at all times. You will be directed by volunteers where to pull your car. Volunteers will load the box of food.

CONSERVATIVES MEETING — Wise County Conservatives meet Monday at Rise Church in Decatur with social time at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7. Nicki Truesdale will speak about school choice. Visit wiseconservatives.com.

FUNERAL for Manuel Maya Delgado, 95, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Hawkins Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery.

FUNERAL for Rosalie Gregg, 101, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Hawkins-Decatur.

SERVICE for Lusha Lester, 83, formerly of Decatur is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

FUNERAL for Ruth Irene Whitaker, 77, of Bowie is 2 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie. Family visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

MEMORIAL service for Ramona Jean Cathey Griffin, 91, of Decatur is 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Decatur. Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Alva Ray Pitts, 91, of Bridgeport is 1 p.m. Monday at Hudson & Torres with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

SERVICE for Andrew Raven, 58, is pending at Hudson & Torres.

MEMORIAL service for Barbara Trammell, 66, of Chico will be held at a later date. Hudson & Torres is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Jason Wayne Schulz, 48, of Boyd is 11 a.m. Saturday at Western Star Cowboy Church in Springtown.
