MOTORCYCLIST HURT IN BOYD WRECK — A Boyd resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident west of Boyd Wednesday afternoon. Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Ricky Hunter said the wreck happened at 4:48 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 4599 and CR 4698. Preliminary information indicates a motorcycle operated by Cody Chapman, 25, of Boyd was eastbound on CR 4599 approaching the intersection. A Jeep driven by Kelsey Lawson, 31, of Springtown was stopped at the intersection preparing to make a left turn. Chapman struck Lawson’s vehicle as it was making the turn. Chapman was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with undisclosed injuries. Lawson was not injured.

PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE APPROACHING — Wise County Tax Assessor Monte Shaw reminds property owners that the deadline to pay property taxes is Monday. Taxes must be paid by the end of the day Monday to avoid interest and penalties on the outstanding balance.
VOTING BY MAIL — Wise County residents who have already requested a ballot by mail should be receiving those ballots in the next few days, as Elections Administrator Sabra Srader said they will be mailed out today. The deadline to request an application for a mail ballot is Feb. 18 to vote in the March 1 primary. COUNTY TO OFFER CONSULTS WITH DEVELOPERS — Wise County officials will now offer developers the opportunity for pre-development meetings with its engineers and its engineering firm Kimley-Horn. Public Works Director Joey Highfill informed Wise County commissioners Monday of the plans to start the conferences, with developers and the entire engineering resources of the county — his office, engineer Chad Davis and Kimley-Horn.
