Paradise knocked out by No. 7 Gunter


Without their star senior player Kaydence Ooten, the Paradise Lady Panthers struggled in their 3A Region II area match Thursday against seventh-ranked Gunter.

The Lady Panthers could not match pace with Gunter’s strong offensive attack. The Lady Tigers faced little resistance in defeating Paradise 25-5, 25-18, 25-9.

With the loss, Paradise finished the season at 32-9.

The Lady Panthers’ offense produced just nine kills against Gunter’s strong defense. Sophomore Brooklyn Force led with three. Morgan Mitschke and Caidyn Powell added two each.

Powell, Force and Kynlee Holt finished with one ace each.

Sophomore setter MaryBeth Cook provided the Lady Panthers with eight assists.

Force anchored Paradise’s defense with eight digs. Mitschke made seven, and Kamryn Baker six.

The Lady Panthers swatted four blocks in the match. Force tallied two, while Mitschke and Holt stopped one each.
