BRIDGEPORT

GT REFERRALS – Bridgeport ISD is currently taking referrals for the GT program until Dec. 11. Information can be found on the Bridgeport ISD website, bridgeportisd.net.

DECATUR

SANTA COPS – The Decatur Police Department is accepting applications for the 2020 Santa Cops program through Nov. 30. Applications are available at the police department or online at decaturtx.org/185/Decatur-Police-Department. Donations of new, unwrapped toys or monetary donations can be dropped off at the police department through Dec. 11. For information, call Ashly DoByns or Captain Campbell, 940-393-0300.

SANTA VISIT – Santa Drive-Thru is 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in front of Decatur High School. Guests will collect a take-home ornament kit, individually wrapped snack and have a socially distanced photo with Santa without ever leaving their vehicles. Cost is $12 for one full experience ticket, $20 for two or $28 for three. Buy tickets online at bit.ly/FCCLAsanta. The event is a fundraiser for DHS’ FCCLA chapter.

MEDICAL LODGE ANGEL TREE – Decatur Medical Lodge has a resident angel tree with multiple residents in need of adopting. To adopt a resident, contact Kathy Matheson, 940-626-2800 or kmatheson@decaturml.com. Deadline for gifts is Dec. 11.

NEW FAIRVIEW

COMMUNITY BLOCK GRANT SURVEY – The City of New Fairview is asking residents to fill out the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant survey. The city needs 80 percent of residents to fill out the survey to be eligible to qualify portions of the city for the $350,000 in grants. Residents can call city hall, 817-638-5366, to complete survey by phone or request link to the online survey.

DAV MEETING – The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 70 and Auxiliary Unit 70 membership meeting is the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. 2801 S. Farm Road 51 in Decatur. WISE GIVES – Wise Gives will hold a drive-thru event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 609 Medical Center Drive in Decatur to distribute food, blankets and resource packets.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA – The John B. Denton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is seeking donations to help place wreaths on the graves of veterans at Oaklawn Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day Dec. 19.

TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN – The Wise County Toys for Tots donation center is open, accepting toys 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The center is in the warehouse at 102 S. Church Street, directly behind the Wise County Messenger office. Gifts for all ages, including teens are needed. The center is run by volunteers with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office Santa’s Deputies program. To make a monetary donation, drop it off at the sheriff’s office, 200 Rook Ramsey Drive, in Decatur or call 940-627-5971.

PESTICIDE APPLICATOR CERTIFICATION – The 2020 Wise County Pesticide Applicator Recertification Program slated for Dec. 10 at the Decatur Conference Center is not virtual due to COVID-19 restrictions issued by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
