A RV fire led to one man’s death near Boyd Monday.

Firefighters responded to a call in the 200 block of Brighton Oaks Drive around 5:30 p.m. Initial dispatch reports indicated that a man was inside of the RV.

Arriving on scene, responders found the structure fully involved. They were able to keep the flames from spreading to a nearby mobile home, but the RV was declared a total loss.

Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty said that a white male was killed in the inferno. The body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office after Justice of the Peace Kim Redman, who pronounced the man dead on scene.

“I do not have anything back from the Medical Examiner,” Redman said.

Officials declined to identify the man at this time.

Two dogs also perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Boyd, Newark, Briar Reno and Parker County ESD. Wise County EMS and the Wise County Fire Marshal also offered assistance.
