Three charges of sexual assault of a child have been added to Tanner Lynn Horner, the man arrested for the murder of Athena Strand. The three charges are out of Tarrant County and appear to be unrelated to the Strand case.
According to Wise County Jail records, the three charges were added Tuesday, with $15,000 bond set for each charge. Horner also remains jailed for capital murder of a child under 10 ($1 million bond) and aggravated kidnapping ($500,000).
Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin confirmed that the three sexual assault of a child charges are unrelated to the Strand case.
Because the charges were filed out of Tarrant County, it is likely either the alleged victim(s) live in Tarrant County or the alleged offense(s) took place in Tarrant County.
Horner was arrested Dec. 2 after telling officers he killed Strand after accidentally striking her with his FedEx delivery truck and was afraid she would tell her father, according to the arrest affidavit in the case. The incident happened at the family’s home near Cottondale Nov. 30.
Akin said the sheriff’s office is still waiting on the full autopsy report in the case.
