2 teens killed in weekend wreck

The two victims killed in an early Sunday morning wreck south of Boyd have been identified as two Odessa teens.

Sgt. Ricky Hunter, a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said 17-year-old Alannah Henson and 13-year-old Mason Price both died at the scene of the wreck on County Road 4757. Their names were released after relatives were notified of their deaths.

Hunter said the wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of CR 4757.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling north on CR 4757. The driver, 17-year-old Aaron Fite (of Boyd), took evasive action to avoid a deer in the road and lost control of the pickup,” Hunter said. “The Dodge traveled off the roadway and struck several trees before turning over onto its right side and coming to rest.”

Henson and Price were both passengers in the truck. Hunter said Fite was not injured.

Wise County EMS, Boyd Volunteer Fire Department and law enforcement from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Boyd and Rhome police departments and DPS responded to the scene and found the vehicle with major damage with trees on top of it. A wrecker was called to the scene for “heavy extraction,” according to first responders. Nearly two hours later, medics reported that extraction was complete.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jan Morrow pronounced the two teens dead at the scene.

Hunter said the investigation into the wreck is ongoing, and no other information was available.
