ALVORD

SCRAPBOOKING – The MZ Bee for scrapbooking and crafting is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 615 County Road 1280. Attendees will bring their own projects, lunch and snacks. There is no charge, but donations can be made to the Food Pantry Ministry for backpacks and Alvord Meals on Wheels. BRIDGEPORT

PRE-K REGISTRATION – Bridgeport ISD is offering tuition based pre-K for the 2019-2020 school year. The full-day program is 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The tuition is $2,000 per school year. To register, go to Bridgeport Elementary School at 1408 Elementary Drive. Call Bridgeport Elementary, 940-683-5955.

DECATUR

REUNION WASHER TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce Washer Tournament is July 23 at the Wise County Old Settlers Reunion at Joe Wheeler Park.

REUNION BINGO – Bingo Night at the Wise County Old Settlers Reunion is 7 to 9 p.m. July 22 at the Joe Wheeler Park pavilion. Cost is $10 for two cards or $20 for five cards. Proceeds benefit the Decatur Youth Fair Buyers Association. Prizes include gift cards, baked goods, gift baskets and much more.

CAREGIVING SEMINAR – The 6 Stages of Caregiving seminar is 1 to 5 p.m. July 20 at Governor’s Ridge Retirement and Assisted Living, 300 E. Devereaux St., in Decatur. The program is free. Register at caregivertransitions.com. Light refreshments will be served.

FREE SUMMER MEALS – On Thursdays, Feeding Wise Kids volunteers will pick up meals from Carson and distribute them to children in the Oliver Creek area 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the East Wise Fire Station, 107 County Road 4421, in Rhome.

MEALS AT LIBRARY – Free meals for children 18 and younger will be provided at 11:20 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the summer at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-393-0290.

MARY’S GIFT – The Mary’s Gift program funded through Wise Health Foundation provides free 3D mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women and men of Wise County. 42 TOURNAMENT – Weekly 42 tournaments are held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at the Decatur Senior Center.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – Wise Hope Shelter and Crisis Center is holding its annual school supply drive for children whose lives have been touched by family violence. General school supplies are needed as well as composition notebooks, tissues, dry erase markers, manila paper, bleach wipes, lunch sacks, gallon and quart size zip-close bags, hand sanitizer, color folders with brads and pockets, paper plates and paper towels. NORTHWEST

ONLINE ENROLLMENT – Online enrollment for all students – both returning and new to Northwest ISD – for the 2019-20 school year is now open at nisdtx.org/enrollment. Northwest ISD will hold a centralized enrollment event noon to 7:30 p.m., July 18, at Northwest High School.

RHOME

STORY TIME – The Rhome Community Library’s Story Time Hour is 11 a.m. every Wednesday with Deb Duckwall. All preschool-age children are welcome to attend. Stories, crafts and snacks are provided. Call 817-636-2767.

VETERANS EVENTS – Rhome Veterans will hold a showing of “The Bear” for its movie night at Rhome Community Library 6:30 p.m. Friday. The group’s monthly meeting is 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a trip to the Civil War Museum in White Settlement.

RUNAWAY BAY

BACK TO SCHOOL FUN RUN – RB Golf Club and Resort will hold the Back to School Fun Run 9 a.m. Aug. 3. Registration is $15 for the 1K walk and $20 for the 5K. It starts at 8 a.m. A pancake breakfast will follow. Proceeds benefit the Runaway Bay Parks program. The club will also be collecting school supplies through Aug. 3.

WISE COUNTY

FARM SERVICE AGENCY NOMINATIONS – The USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting nominations for county committee members. Agricultural producers who participate or cooperate in an FSA program may be nominated for candidacy for the county committee. Individuals may nominate themselves or others as a candidate. Committees make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. Their input is vital on how FSA carries out disaster programs, as well as conservation, commodity and price support programs, county office employment and other agricultural issues. To be considered, a producer must sign an FSA-669A nomination form. The form and other information about FSA county committee elections are available at fsa.usda.gov/elections. All nomination forms for the 2019 election must be postmarked or received in the local FSA office, 407 Park West Court, Suite 300 in Decatur, by Aug. 1.

CHRONIC DISEASE – Texas Health Resources is holding a chronic disease self-management workshop series from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Bridgeport Public Library, 2159 10th Street. Register at 877-847-9355 or TexasHealth.org/classes.
