Barbara Summers

Barbara Summers, 102, of Decatur, passed away on Easter Sunday April 21, 2019, in Decatur. She faithfully awaits the resurrection and being reunited with her loved ones.

Memorial service will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Barbara was born June 5, 1916, to Cordie and Nancy Alice (Berry) Harper in Cotulla. She was united in marriage to Charles Francis Summers Dec. 4, 1940, in San Antonio. Barbara was a retired school teacher and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Decatur. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Danie Williams, Holly Hine, Lorene Patton and Ada Lee Noah; brother J.C. Harper; and niece Darlene Lee.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Douglas Gene Summers and wife, Patricia, of Decatur; granddaughter Ashley Summers of Englewood, Colo.; nieces Nancy Morrison, Maylee Noah and Donna Beckhorn; nephews Glen Hine, Phil Hine and Harvey Williams; and a host of friends.
