The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Arlington Police Department on a credit card theft case, and they are asking for the public’s help.

An Arlington woman reported her credit card number stolen in mid-November after she discovered unauthorized purchases.

“She got her statement from the credit card company, and it showed she had charged $2,700 for things she did not purchase. It included two money orders purchased at the Chico Post Office,” Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said.

The investigation has revealed the purchases took place on Nov. 17 by two people.

“It was two Hispanic males,” Akin said. “One came in and purchased a money order. He went outside, and then another person went in and bought another money order. The post office employee noticed they left in the same vehicle.”

A video surveillance photo shows the suspects’ vehicle to be a silver-colored SUV.

The investigation revealed several similar incidents had taken place in Tarrant County.

Akin said the money orders purchased in Chico were later cashed in Florida.

To report information about the theft, the identity of the vehicle’s owner or the location of the vehicle, call Crime Stoppers of Wise County at 800-643-TIPS(8477) or 940-627-TIPS. Calls may be made 24 hours a day, and callers will remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for the first most accurate tip received.
