FFA DUES – Eighth graders through high school ag students need to pay FFA dues to ag teachers. Dues are $20.

PEP RALLY THEME – Friday’s pep rally theme is PJ day.

PICTURE DAY – Yearbook photos will be taken Thursday, Sept. 14.


TESTING TIPS – A list of tips for juniors and seniors preparing for the ACT and SAT are available on the high school website.


FOOTBALL TICKETS FOR SALE – Season tickets are available for pick-up and sale at the Bridgeport High School front office from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. daily.

BIG SANDY FOOD DRIVE – Bridgeport ISD will be collecting canned food for Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) from Sept. 7-27. The district is competing against Decatur in the Battle of the Big Sandy Food Drive.

WATCH DOGS KICKOFF – Bridgeport Elementary will have its Watch DOGS kickoff pizza party 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the cafeteria.

BULLS BOOK BUS – Bridgeport Elementary’s Bulls Book Bus will be at every home game for younger students to enjoy reading during the games.


YEARBOOK ORDER – Yearbooks are available for $40, or $45 with a personalized name added. Ordering information is available on the district website


PSAT – The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 are eligible to take the test. Sophomore tests are paid for by DISD, and they are automatically signed up. Students in grades 9 and 11 who are interested in taking the PSAT need to bring $15 to Mrs. Johnson in the first floor office by Friday, Sept. 8. Study materials will be provided. Juniors are able to qualify for any type of scholarship associated with the PSAT. Call or email Mrs. Smith in the counseling office.

SAT – The next available SAT test date is Saturday, Oct. 7. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 8. For locations near you, check the following link: collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/regiter/find-test-centers. All grade levels are eligible to register for this test.

ACT – The next available test date for the ACT is Saturday, Oct. 28. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 22. The closest location to DHS is Alvord High School. COMMUNITY INPUT NEEDED – Paradise School Board is asking community members to fill out a survey about qualifications and characteristics they’d like to see in their new superintendent. The questionnaire is available at pisd.net.

T-SHIRT SALES – Money and order forms for volleyball and varsity cheer T-shirts are due Friday, Sept. 8. Order forms are available at pisd.net.

GIFTED AND TALENTED NOMINATIONS – Nominations are now being accepted for the Paradise Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program for students new to Paradise ISD in first through 12th grades. Nominations are due Tuesday, Sept. 19. Nomination forms are available at pisd.net.

FILL THE BUS – Paradise is accepting donations for the Gulf Coast until Friday, Sept. 8. Bring bottled water, bottled electrolytes, canned food, diapers, clothing, toiletries, school supplies, non-perishable food or pet food to the Paradise ag barn during school hours.

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY – Grandparents of Paradise Intermediate students are invited to visit their students at school this week. Grandparents of fourth graders may come Thursday, Sept. 7, and grandparents of fifth graders can come Friday, Sept. 8. Grandparents are invited to start the day at the library at 7:30, after which they will join their students for breakfast.

HOMECOMING PARADE – Homecoming parade entries are due Wednesday, Sept. 13. The theme this year is “Home Sweet Homecoming.” Entry forms are available at pisd.net/pisd/hs.

PICTURE DAY – Paradise Elementary School will have school pictures taken Tuesday, Sept. 12. Intermediate and junior high picture day is Wednesday, Sept. 13. High school picture day is Friday, Sept. 14. All students will be photographed for the yearbook.


WATCH DOGS KICKOFF – Prairie View Elementary will have its Watch DOGS kickoff party and mom’s tea and movie night 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the gym.

BOOK FAIR – Chisholm Trail Middle School will hold a book fair Monday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 15, in the library.


FFA FUNDRAISER – Slidell FFA is selling Fresh County Meats until Sept. 13. To order, contact any FFA member or Dalton Meadows, dmeadows@slidellisd.net.

SCHOOL PICTURES – Garner Studios will take yearbook photos Friday, Sept. 15, for all grades. Seniors will also be photographed in their tuxedo or drape. Pictures can be pre-ordered through the school’s website, SLIDELLISD.NET.

TRAVEL FUNDRAISER – The Boston/New York student travel group is selling flip flops to raise money for their trip. The straps are orange and will be embroidered with “SLIDELL” and the school logo. Cost is $22 per pair, and they are available in sizes XXS through XXL. An order form can be downloaded on the school website, slidellisd.net. Orders are due Sept. 15.
