FFA DUES – Eighth graders through high school ag students need to pay FFA dues to ag teachers. Dues are $20.

REMIND – Community members can find information on the Remind smartphone application to get updates on news and events from high school Principal Michael Thurman under the news and events tab on the district website. An option for text message updates for those without smartphones is also available.


FREE AND REDUCED MEALS – Free and reduced meal applications are available in English and Spanish on the district website.

TESTING TIPS – A list of tips for juniors and seniors preparing for the ACT and SAT are available on the high school website.


BIG SANDY FOOD DRIVE – Bridgeport ISD will be collecting canned food for Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) until Sept. 27. The district is competing against Decatur in the Battle of the Big Sandy Food Drive.

BULLS BOOK BUS – Bridgeport Elementary’s Bulls Book Bus will be at every home game for younger students to enjoy reading during the games.

HOMECOMING PARADE – Homecoming is Oct. 6, and the parade will be held Monday, Oct. 2. Applications to participate are due by Thursday, Sept. 28, and can be found at bridgeportisd.net.


PINK-OUT SHIRTS – The district is selling pink-out shirts benefiting Mary’s Gift. Order forms are available online or at all district campuses. Sales end Sept. 29.

YEARBOOK ORDER – Yearbooks are available for $40, or $45 with personalization. Ordering information is on the district website.


BIG SANDY FOOD DRIVE – Decatur ISD is collecting canned food for Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) until Sept. 27. The district is competing against Bridgeport in the Battle of the Big Sandy Food Drive.

FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER – The Decatur Education Foundation is having a fundraiser – Dinner with Dale Hansen – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Decatur Conference Center. Hansen is a sports broadcaster on WFAA. Tickets are $50 each or $400 for a table with eight seats. VIP tables are $600 and include a meet and greet with Hansen. Tickets may be purchased at the DISD Administration Building or DATCU. There will be a cash bar and live auction.

ACT – The next available test date for the ACT is Saturday, Oct. 28. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 22. The closest location to DHS is Alvord High School. COMMUNITY INPUT NEEDED – Paradise School Board is asking community members to fill out a survey about qualifications and characteristics they’d like to see in their new superintendent. The questionnaire is available at pisd.net.

HOMECOMING MUMS – Band boosters are selling homecoming mums until Friday, Sept. 22. All proceeds go to the band program. Details are at pisd.net.


WATCH DOGS KICKOFF – Prairie View Elementary will have its Watch DOGS Kickoff Party and Mom’s Tea and Movie Night 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the gym.


BLOOD DRIVE – Slidell Student Council is having a Carter blood drive 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. Community members are encouraged to donate. Contact Katy Hunter.
