After five scoreless innings, Dillon Waldrep drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game to give Bridgeport the only lead they would need.
The Bulls (15-3, 1-0) went on to a 5-1 district opening victory over Krum.
Bridgeport had four hits in the game led by Alex Samples. He ended the night 2 for 4 with a double. Reese Read had one hit and an RBI.
Omar Martinez picked up his first district win, going all seven innings, allowing five hits, one walk and struck out eight.
“This was a well pitched game by both pitchers,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said. “We were just able to take advantage of some mistakes by Krum to score some runs. We ran the bases really well tonight.”
The Bulls will host Decatur Tuesday.
