Council to look at proclamations, appointments

{{{*}}}The Decatur City Council will mostly be proclaiming and appointing when it meets Monday at City Hall.

A proclamation will declare May 10 as Butterfield State Days Karl Klement Ram PRCA Rodeo Pink night, and after approval of minutes from their last meeting the council is scheduled to approve on second reading a request from Police Chief Rex Hoskins for $50,000 to upgrade computers and video equipment in seven police vehicles.

They have also been asked to allow the closure of State, Main and Trinity streets on the square from 4 to 8 p.m. for “Cruise Nights on the Square” on May 4, June 1, Sept. 7 and Oct. 5.

Up for reappointment to the city’s Water Board are Sam Renshaw, J.E. Carson and Roy Eaton, with terms to expire April 30, 2015. The council will also discuss and take action on appointment of a budget committee, then hear an investment report.

Prior to the 6 p.m. meeting, the council will hear reports from the Fire, Planning and Public Works departments in a workshop that begins at 5:30. Both the workshop and the meeting are open to the public.
