Greenwood
- Greenwood is located west of FM 51 between Decatur and Slidell on FM 1204.
- Greenwood has two churches, a country store, a post office, a volunteer fire department and a Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star group.
- The downtown pavilion serves as the venue for the annual Youth Fair Buyer’s Association Barbeque, Greenwood Art Show and Greenwood Homecoming.
- The annual homecoming is held the first Sunday in June.
- The Greenwood Fall Festival is held the second Saturday in October.
- The Greenwood Art Show is held every spring.
- Greenwood has no police department. Call 9-1-1 for Wise County Sheriff’s Department for emergencies.
- Greenwood has a volunteer fire department.
- Children attend school at Decatur or Slidell ISD.
Slidell
What’s new in Slidell?
Eagles Canyon Raceway, a European-style road course, is expected to be completed this summer. The track is located a quarter-mile south of the Farm Roads 455 and 51 intersection near Slidell. For information on Eagles Canyon Raceway, visit www.eaglescanyon.com.
- Slidell is located 15 miles north of Decatur east of the intersection of Farm Road 51 and FM 455.
- Slidell is home to several farmers and ranchers and to residents who enjoy an easy commute to Denton, Gainesville and the Metroplex.
- Slidell has no police department. All emergencies are handled through the Wise County Sheriff’s Department at 9-1-1.
- The Slidell Volunteer Fire Department is located downtown. For emergencies call 9-1-1.
- Slidell also has two cafes and a post office.
- Slidell School district is Class 1A and covers grades K-12. The elementary, junior and high schools and the administration building are located at 1 Greyhound Lane.
