Due to the recent state budget cuts, Decatur ISD is seeking solutions to alleviate the deficit. As a result, teachers are being asked to leave their electrical appliances, such as candle warmers, space heaters, fans, and coffee pots, at home. However, teachers and students feel there may be better alternatives to the solution. The Youth Spoken team put together video interviews with students and teachers regarding their thoughts on conserving energy.

Fire in Rhome area has jumped U.S. 287 from the west side to the east side of the highway, prompting Texas Department of Transportation to shut down the highway in both directions. Farm Road 3433 between Rhome and Newark has also been shut down.
