DEATH INVESTIGATION - A body was found inside a home destroyed in a Friday night fire. The Arson Task Force is investigating the death of the unknown person found in a mobile home on County Road 2872. Alvord, Decatur and Montague County firefighters battled the blaze in northern Wise County Friday night, with the call coming in after 10. The home was fully involved with a collapsed roof at the firefighters' arrival. The cause of the fire and cause of death is unknown at this time.

SLICK ROADS - Icy roads caused a multiple car accident in Decatur just after 7 Saturday morning. Emergency workers closed northbound U.S. 81/287 at U.S. 380 in order to clear the scene. There were no serious injuries. Emergency workers also were called out to U.S. 81/287 near County Road 4421 Sunday night as temperatures dropped below freezing, causing slick spots in the roadways. Several cars slid off the road, but no major injuries were reported.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE - All county offices are closed today in observance of President's Day.

SAVE YOUR LUNGS - The Decatur Public Library will present tobacco prevention activities with Kari Thorn from the Star Council at 4 p.m. Wednesday. DINOSAUR TALK - The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center, 200 East Main, in Decatur to hear about the current dinosaur dig site in Arlington. ANGEL FOOD - Crossroads Church in Decatur will accept orders and payments online for Angel Food through 11 p.m. Wednesday. Cash, check and foodstamp orders will be accepted through noon the same day. Food will be distributed 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the church. The basic box is $30 and provides dinners for a family of four for about a week. SUPPORT GROUP - National Alliance of Mental Illness of Wise County Support Group meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the West Campus conference room at Wise Regional Health System. This is an open meeting for all persons/families facing mental illness.

GRAVESIDE service for Johnny Garrett, 66, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Sweetwater Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICES for Mark Fleckenstein, 50, and A.J. Clark, 64, both of Decatur are pending at Coker-Hawkins.
