BUSINESS FIRE - The Bridgeport Fire Department responded to a fire at Daily Donuts on Turkey Creek Trail in the city shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday. The fire appears to have started in the attic and firefighters attacked hot spots in the attic shortly after arriving on scene. The business had closed for the day at 12:15 p.m.

SALES AHEAD OF BUDGET - Despite trailing last year's February sales tax receipts by 27 percent, the Decatur Economic Development Corp. remains slightly ahead of budget, five months into the fiscal year. The EDC has received $455,000 as its share of the city sales tax, almost $40,000 ahead of the expected revenues.

EARLY VOTING - Elections Administrator Lannie Noble reports that 128 people voted in the Republican primary and 12 in the Democratic primary during yesterday's early voting at the Decatur Civic Center. Early voting continues 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Voting will also be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Walmart in Decatur.

CONCERT - A bluegrass concert featuring The Sunday Bluegrass Band and Josh McDaniel is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bridgeport Community Center. Cost is $5 per person. Refreshments will be served and a cake auction held. Proceeds will benefit the James Wood Pacesetters Relay for Life Team, and money will go to the American Cancer Society.

DECATUR CHAMBER LUNCH - The Decatur Chamber of Commerce Luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Decatur Civic Center. Cost is $12 per person, and reservations are due by noon Monday. Guest speaker is State Representative Phil King. Call (940) 627-3107.
