CHOICES, CHOICES - Wise County voters will have plenty of choices to make in the May election. Towns with contested school board races include Alvord, Boyd, Bridgeport, Chico, Decatur, Paradise and the towns that make up the Northwest school district (New Fairview, Newark, Rhome and Aurora). Contested city council races will be featured in Alvord, Boyd, Bridgeport, Newark, Rhome and Runaway Bay. Residents of Bridgeport, Rhome and Runaway Bay will also have a choice to make for mayor. WASTE COLLECTION - The city of Bridgeport will host a hazardous waste collection event in conjunction with Bridgeport's Spring Clean Up from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Hazardous items such as paint, light bulbs, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, batteries, solvents, antifreeze and oil, as well as computers and other electronics will be disposed of for free for Bridgeport residents. Items should be dropped off at 910 Cates St.

GARAGE SALE - Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Youth group is holding a garage sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, at Boyd Community Center.

OPEN HOUSE - Bridgeport Intermediate School will hold open house 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11.

PAY BILLS ONLINE - City of Decatur water bills and citations can now be paid online at www.decaturtx.org. Credit card payments will include a 3 percent charge.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT - Decatur's Girls Night Out is 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Stores on the square will be open late for shopping and refreshments. Call (940) 627-6158 for more information.

OFFICE CLOSED - The Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace office will be closed today for repairs to the heating/air conditioning unit at the Sheriff's Department. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday. All court appearances will be extended until Thursday.

NICE, BUT WINDY, DAY - Today is expected to be sunny and warm, with a high around 70, but a wind advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As a dry line passes through the area, winds will become southwesterly at 20 to 30 miles per hour with some gusts over 40 miles per hour possible. With relative humidity of 15 to 30 percent this afternoon, these weather conditions and dry fuel will create a fire danger. A red flag warning has been issued from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FUNERALS - Graveside service for Cara Sylvester, 22, of Plano, formerly of Decatur, is 1 p.m. Friday at Wylie Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home in Wylie.

MEMORIAL service for Mark Parizon, 49, of Rhome is 10:30 Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Decatur.

FUNERAL for Brownie Mae Sanders, 91, formerly of Alvord is 1 p.m. Thursday at the Alvord Church of Christ with burial at Alvord Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.

SERVICE for Edgar L. Schilo Jr., 60, of Bridgeport is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
