TAKE CARE OF WARRANTS - Newark will join more than 250 law enforcement jurisdictions from across Texas for the "Great Texas Warrant Roundup," which begins Saturday. Officers will arrest people with outstanding warrants pending before their respective municipal courts. Notices have been mailed to persons with active warrants. Newark residents with outstanding city citations are strongly encouraged to appear in person or contact Newark Municipal Court in order to avoid being arrested at home, work or school.

FATAL WRECK - A Bridgeport man was killed early Friday morning in a car accident on U.S. 380 in Denton County. William Grant Edwards, 25, was killed when his eastbound pickup crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a westbound 18-wheeler. The accident occurred at about 3:25 a.m. at Ripy Road. Traffic was diverted from the closed roadway for several hours while investigators were on the scene. The road reopened at 11:15 a.m. Edwards was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no other injuries. Funeral for Edwards is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE - Students in Decatur High School SkillsUSA took the top three spots in the occupational first aid/CPR competition Friday in Waco. Cole Selby placed first, Marisol Banuelos was second and Ariel Salinas was third. The top two places advance to state.

RAINY DAY - It's shaping up to be a rainy Monday. Rain began before dawn and is forecast to continue for much of the day. Rainfall totals as of 7:30 a.m. included 1.2 inches in Slidell, 0.65 in Decatur and Alvord, 0.6 in Chico and 0.5 in Bridgeport.

EARLY VOTING'S OVER - More than 1,800 people cast votes early in Tuesday's primary elections. Two weeks of early voting ended Friday with 1,722 votes cast in the Republican primary and 147 in the Democratic primary.

RELAY MEETING - The Relay for Life committee meets at 5:30 tonight at the Wise County Sheriff's Office Courtroom, with a team captain meeting to follow at 6:30.

BIRTHDAY PARTY - The Rhome Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a party at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The party is for preschool children and will include reading Dr. Seuss books and a birthday cake. Children may wear costumes or pajamas.

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY PARTY - The Decatur Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a party at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The party is for preschool children and will include books, songs, games and a snack. Other story times include Toddler Time with "stay and play" at 11 a.m. Wednesdays and Mother Goose with a "stay and play" at 10 a.m. Thursdays.
