NO TAX INCREASE - The Wise County Water Control and Improvement District won't be raising its property tax rate this year. Directors agreed to a 2010 budget Tuesday and decided its property tax rate of a penny per $100 valuation will remain unchanged. WCID primarily funds cost-share projects with landowners for erosion control and water resource preservation. Its new budget goes into effect May 1 and will be similar to last year's, said Chairman Lou Vee Bridges.
DECATUR P&Z - The Decatur Planning and Zoning Commission made quick work of five items Tuesday. A zoning change was approved for Jeannice Gordon's request, on behalf of Jeanette Christian, to change zoning from a single family residential zoning district to an office zoning district on 2.7 acres east of Valcik Street, west of Vicks Street and north of W. Business 380 at 1500 W. 380 Business. Three items involved platting the property of IGA Market Place on Farm Road 51 South and an adjacent tract for Gary Shelton. The tracts were not originally platted. A replat was also approved for a planned CVS Pharmacy at US 81/287, Business 380 and FM 51.
