ELECTION DAY - Polls in the Republican and Democratic primary elections opened at 7 a.m. today and will remain open until 7 p.m. A full list of polling locations was in Sunday's Wise County Messenger and online at www.wcmessenger.com/election. Election results will be posted as soon as they are available tonight at www.wcmessenger.com/election and in the Thursday, March 4, issue of the Wise County Messenger on newsstands tomorrow. The Messenger is also hosting an "Election Night Watching Party" at 7 tonight at the Decatur Visitors Center.

STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE - Decatur High School SkillsUSA students competed at district Friday at Texas State Technical College in Waco. Students who advanced to state, scheduled March 25-26 in Corpus Christi, include: opening and closing presentation team - Ethan Alexander, Ariel Salinas, Megan Kirkelie, Ricky Samona, Ethan Webb, Summer Miller, Oscar Rivera and Bryan Ripolio; automotive knowledge quiz bowl team - Ethan Webb, Tim Russey, Scott Rowe, Harminder Singh, Clint Padilla and Michael Darrow; Tim Russey in extemporaneous speaking; Crystal Morris in customer service; academic and SkillsUSA knowledge quiz team - Brandon Ford, Crystal Morris, Harminder Singh, Ariel Salinas, Oscar Rivera, Nicole Sellers and Ricky Samona; Cassidty Drevecky, rebuilt motorcycle project; and Juan Martinez and Eric Pedroza, speaker box construction project.

GED TEST - The GED Test will be administered by Bridgeport ISD March 15-16. Call (940) 683-1830 ext. 1250 or go to www.bridgeportisd.net, then click on "Community" then on "GED information" for more information. Must pre-register before March 11.

LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASSES - Two American Red Cross Certification classes will be held at Fit N Wise. Session 2 is April 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18 and Session 3 is April 23, 24, 25, 30, May 1 and 2. SCHOLARSHIPS - The Desk and Derrick Club of Wise County is offering scholarships to high school seniors. Students interested in pursuing careers in the petroleum, natural gas or energy industry should apply for scholarships of up to $2,000. Applications are due March 15. HEART GALLERY - The Heart Gallery of North Texas will be on display in the lobby of Wise Regional Health System through mid-March. The Heart Gallery is a traveling photo exhibit of children available for adoption. For information, call Joy Woodruff at (940) 393-5231.

BIRTHDAY PARTY - The Rhome Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a party at 1:30 p.m. today. The party is for preschool children and will include reading Dr. Seuss books and a birthday cake. Children may wear costumes or pajamas.

FISH AND BINGO - The Boyd Area Buyers Association is hosting a fish fry 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Boyd Elementary parking lot. Proceeds will benefit Boyd FFA, 4-H and FCCLA. Bingo will be held at 7 p.m. at the Boyd Community Center with proceeds benefiting South Wise Services Food Pantry.

RAINFALL - Yesterday's rainfall amounts included 0.3 of an inch in Chico and Slidell, 0.24 in Decatur and 0.2 in Bridgeport.

FUNERALS - Service for Doris Chilton, 65, of Chico is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Chico with burial at Thomas Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL service for Michael Thomas Williams, 67, of Sunset will be held at a later date. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

GRAVESIDE service for Barney Edwin Calvert Sr., 76, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Calvert Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for W.J. "Dub" Little, 77, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial at Thomas Cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for William Grant Edwards, 25, of Bridgeport is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Home.
