BREAKING NEWS - GRASS FIRE - Cottondale, Salt Creek and Boonsville Fire Departments battled a grass fire on County Road 3661 in Cottondale Saturday around 2:30 p.m. The fire destroyed a small wooden shed, but firefighters were able to stop the acre-sized fire before it reached any homes.
ACCIDENT - A Boyd man was injured in an accident on U.S. 81/287 north of Alvord on Thursday afternoon. Lawrence Hudson Mau, 50, was reported for reckless driving moments before he lost control of his passenger truck and left the road. The truck struck a culvert and stop sign in the median. Mau was transported to Wise Regional Health System.
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION - The Decatur School Board last night approved spending $47,420 for hardware and software for a media technology course to be offered at the high school next school year. The Apple iMac computers and Apple Final Cut Studio software will be used in the course, which is described as training for entry-level employment in movie, video and television production careers.
