BREAKING NEWS - MURDER SUICIDE? - Investigators were on the scene of a possible murder-suicide in the 3800 block of U.S. 81/287 about five miles north of Decatur overnight. More details to follow in Update.

WISE SHINES AT STATE TRACK - In one of the most successful state track and field meets ever for Wise County, 13 athletes competed at the biggest event of the year and brought home seven medals from the UIL track and field state champions at the University of Texas in Austin. In Class 3A action, Decatur senior Cynthia Carrillo took third in the 1,600 and teammate sophomore Hanna Galloway was seventh. Lady Eagle Zuleima Palomo was third in the 3,200 and just ahead of Galloway who was sixth. In Class 2A competition, Alvord senior Paige Klein took the silver in the 100 and was sixth in the 200, while senior Travis Montgomery was third and sixth, respectively, in the same events. Alvord freshman Jordan Ward ran her way to a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles, and the 800 relay team of Kailey Watkins, Sam Rodgers, Klein and Ward took fourth place. Sophomore Katie Mark of Boyd finished eighth in the 800. In the Class 1A finals, Slidell freshman Bobbi Clemmer captured second place in the 800 and seventh in the 400. The state meet ended with Class 5A action where Chris Bain of Northwest came home with third-place honors in the 100 and was fourth in the 200. MAJOR ACCIDENT - Two Granbury residents were flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth Saturday around 12:30 p.m. after suffering severe injuries in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Farm Road 51 and Farm Road 455 in Slidell. Douglas Curry, 43, and Linnette Hinder, 43, were headed south on FM 51 when their motorcycle crashed into the back of a stopped truck waiting to turn left onto FM 455, police said. The driver of the truck, Slidell resident Matthew Weathers, 34, was taken to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur with minor injuries.

TEEN COURT - The last court of the season is tonight in Decatur. Officers arrive at 5 p.m. Court starts at 6. Attendees will be treated to pizza. For more information, call (940) 433-3288.

REPUBLICAN MEETING - Wise Republican Women and the Wise County Republican Party will meet jointly at 6:30 tonight at the courthouse. Scholarship recipients will read their papers.

SCV MEETING - The Sons of Confederate Veterans meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Hugh King, administrator of Doctors' Hospital in Bridgeport, will speak.

ALVORD PIONEER DAYS - The Alvord Pioneer Days festival is Saturday. Vendors that want to sell food or goods should register with Alvord City Hall at (940) 427-5916.

CASA FUNDRAISER - The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) fundraiser is 7 p.m. to midnight June 19, at Ruben's Ballroom. The J.D. Clark and Ed Burleson Bands will perform. Tickets are $20 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the abused and neglected children of Wise County. For more information, call Pat Reed at (940) 627-7535.

CAMP - Sonflower Camp for Kids with Disabilities is 8:30 a.m. to noon today through Wednesday at Joe Wheeler Park in Decatur.

BARBECUE - The Greenwood-Slidell Volunteer Fire Department and Greenwood Masonic Lodge will host a community barbecue at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20. Events include a meal, live band, raffle, auction and bounce house. For more information, go to http://www.gsvfd.us

BOOSTERS - The Bridgeport Band Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the BHS Band Hall.

SUPPORT - Alcoholics Anonymous and Alanon meetings are 6:30 p.m. each Monday at the Newark Community Center at 404 Hudson St.

TRAFFIC REPORT - Wise County road work scheduled this week includes seal coat and patching on Farm Road 920 from Texas 199 to the Parker County line and Farm Road 2210 from FM 920 to the Jack County line. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both areas. In Paradise, the signal light at the intersection of Texas 114 and Farm Road 3259 continues to be out, and a four-way stop is in place. In Decatur, the downtown sidewalk project has Walnut Street shut down in the area of city hall.

FUNERALS - Service for James Sears, 76, of Paradise is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial in Wilson Prairie Cemetery. Family visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

GRAVESIDE service for Alta Seaton, 89, of Chico is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cundiff Cemetery. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
