VOTING BEGINS - A total of 87 people cast votes yesterday in the first day of early voting in the two local school bond elections and the constitutional amendment election. Wise County Elections Administrator Lannie Noble said 55 people voted at the Decatur Civic Center and 32 people voted at the Bridgeport ISD administration building. Early voting continues at both locations each weekday through Oct. 30. Also, early voting will be available from 5-7 tonight at Decatur High School and 4:30-7 p.m. at Bridgeport Intermediate School's annual cornbread and bean supper. Tickets for the supper are $4 each.

CATTLE TRUCK THEFT - Law enforcement has identified the man arrested Sunday after stealing a loaded cattle truck and leading police on a cross-county chase that ended with officers shooting out the truck radiator and several tires south of Bridgeport. Nicholas Collie, 21, of Paradise was charged with theft of $100,000 to $200,000, theft of less than 100 head of cattle, unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest.

MURDER PLEA - A former Northwest High School student yesterday pleaded guilty to murdering her mother last year. Jennifer Bailey, 18, of Roanoke was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Bailey's boyfriend, Paul Allen Henson Jr., pleaded guilty earlier this year and also received a 60-year prison sentence. Bailey's younger brother, who is 14, is also accused in the death. Investigators found Bailey's mother stabbed in the neck and later found the teens in South Dakota.

SOCIETY MEETING - The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society meets at 6:30 p.m. today at the Wesley Center Building.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS - Applications for Rhome's Spirit of Christmas are available at Rhome City Hall. Applications are due to city hall by Nov. 20. The program provides toys and clothes for economically disadvantaged children.
