BREAKING NEWS - PLANE CRASH - Law enforcement and rescue workers around 3 p.m. Tuesday located a plane crash in the southern part of Wise County near County Road 4227 and Currie Road near Aurora. The plane is a twin turboprop engine Beechcraft King Air 100 with major damage, including missing a wing. Two people were flown to Fort Worth hospitals in critical condition and two others were taken by ground ambulance in serious condition. The plane had taken off nearly an hour before the crash from Oklahoma City and was heading to Fort Worth Meacham Airport. The FAA was on the scene as of 4:15 p.m. Tuesday investigating.
PLANNING AND ZONING ISSUES - The Decatur Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 6 tonight in the Decatur City Hall council chambers. Ten items are on the agenda, including a public hearing regarding Ernie Robert's request for a final plat for four lots south of Mulberry Street and west of North State Street. The city has received four notices of opposition to the replat by area property owners.

VETERANS PICNIC - The Wise County Veterans Council is sponsoring its annual Veterans Picnic for veterans and their families from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Women's Building at the Sheriff's Posse Grounds in Decatur. The barbecue meal with trimmings and dessert will be served at 11:30. The picnic will also include a silent auction, sweet walk and drawings for door prizes.
STORY TIME - Story time at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Decatur Public Library is designed to promote books and reading and includes stories, songs, movement, puppets, crafts, and activities to encourage early literacy. SARAH'S CURE - The fourth annual Sarah's Cure is Saturday, Oct. 17, and will begin with a 5K run/walk in downtown Decatur. Registration is at 7 a.m. with the fun run at 8 a.m. and the 5K run at 8:30.
