CHILD DEATH - A 4-year-old boy was killed Saturday in what investigators believe was a tragic accident. Medics were called to a home at 116 County Road 1340 near Chico around 9:30 Saturday morning where they found an injured child, Logan Bradley Moody. Investigators said the child was apparently playing in a truck when the emergency break was accidentally disengaged and the truck started to roll and Moody fell out. Medics first called for a helicopter but then transported the child to North Texas Community Hospital in Bridgeport where he died around 11:30. Service for Moody, the son of Lance and Shana Moody, is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN - Alvord won Friday night, marking the first win for a Wise County team since the Bulldogs won Sept. 4. Wise County teams had been winless the past three weeks. Alvord won 26-14 over Muenster Sacred Heart. Bridgeport lost a heart-breaker to Graham 49-48 Friday while Northwest was blown out by Colleyville Heritage 49-14.
DOUBLY GOOD - Decatur High School is no stranger to competing in national tractor restoration competitions, but this is the first year the school has had two teams qualify for the Chevron National Tractor Restoration Event. One team made up of Phillip Grundy, Will Gregg, Brandon Myers and Colton White restored a 1964 John Deere 3020. The other team made up of Ethan Fennewald, Cody Pollard and Hayden Lemieux restored a 1959 Ford "Workmaster." Only 12 teams are selected nation-wide to compete. Ishley Elmore will also compete at the event.
RAIN - Rainfall totals from the weekend include 1.8 inches in Slidell, 0.9 in Bridgeport and 0.89 in Decatur. A chance of rain remains in the forecast for today and for the rest of the week.
