MAJOR ACCIDENT - An accident on 287 resulted in major injuries for the driver of a passenger car Saturday afternoon. Daniel Byars, 21, of Fort Worth was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with head injuries following the single-car accident. Byars was southbound on U.S. 81/287 near FM 4421 when he veered off the left side of the road and overcorrected to the right. His passenger car left the road and struck a culvert, then rolled several times. He was wearing his seatbelt. No passengers were in the vehicle.
BRINK OF APPROVAL - Wise County commissioners meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the third floor jury room of the county courthouse to adopt a budget and property tax rate.

ANIMAL SHELTER - The Wise County Animal Shelter is offering a special on pet adoptions this month. Throughout September the shelter will accept donated items in lieu of any fees for animal adoptions. ROAD CLOSED - The intersection of County Road 2323 and 2324 will be closed for approximately six weeks for bridge replacement beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.
BAKE SALE AND BARBECUE - The First Financial Bank locations in Bridgeport and Boyd will hold bake sales today from 9 a.m. until they sell out of goods. The Bridgeport location will also have barbecue sandwiches for $5. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.

BENEFIT - Bridgeport 4-H is holding a benefit garage sale today at Detection K-9, Texas 101 north of Bridgeport across from the Yellow Rose Cafe. Proceeds benefit Laura Jeanne, 4-H Dog Drill leader who was partially paralyzed in an accident early this summer. Additional donations will also be accepted.
HOLIDAY CLOSING - The Wise County Public Works and the Decatur dumpsite will be closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. Dumpsites in Boyd, Chico and Cottondale will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 9.
AUDITIONS - Auditions for the Nov. 14 Wise Country Fall-Out have been extended to 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Saturday, Sept. 12, at the G.C. Rann Little Theatre at the Heritage Museum in Decatur.
