RHOME COUNCIL - The Rhome City Council tonight will approve the city's budget and is expected to pass a tax rate of 56 cents per $100 of taxable value. Other agenda items include an amendment to an ordinance authorizing the police chief to appoint or terminate all police officers, Rhome Family Park and the 2010 census. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the annex building.

UNITED WAY KICK OFF - United Way of Wise County will hold its campaign kick off and a lunch at 11 a.m. today at the Decatur Civic Center. Everyone is invited. For more information call (940) 627-2111.

REPUBLICAN MEETING - The Wise Republican Women and Wise County Republican Party will meet jointly at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the courthouse, second floor. Texas District 61 Legislator Phil King will speak on GOPAK-TX and its goals of revitalizing the Texas Legislature as well as the 11 amendments to the state constitution on the general election ballot.

RUN/BIKE - The Third Annual Bridgeport Rocks Miners 5K Run/30 Mile Bike Ride is Oct. 3. Registration is $25, and forms are available at Fit-n-Wise, Body Fitnus and Edge Fitness in Bridgeport, or the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce. POSSE PARADE - The Wise County Sheriff's Posse parade is Saturday, line up at 10:30 a.m. by the old train depot and start at 11 a.m.

TRIATHLON - Pick up packets for the Wise Tri triathlon at the James Wood Hyundai store 3-7 p.m. Friday or La Quinta in Bridgeport on Saturday. The triathlon is Sunday at Lake Bridgeport.

GOLF TOURNAMENT - The Bridgeport Lions Club annual Oilman's Golf tournament (4 man scramble) is this weekend at The Club at Runaway Bay. To enter a team, call Corey Ingram at (940) 644-2218 before 4 p.m. today.

FLIP FLOPS FOR PROM - The DHS class of 2011 is selling flip flops for $16 each to benefit the 2010 junior/senior prom. Orders may be placed until Friday at the concession stands at all home games.
