RAIN CAUSES PROBLEMS - Wise County is experiencing its fourth consecutive day of rain, and the wet weather caused some traffic problems in Decatur over the weekend. Southbound U.S. 81/287 was closed at the Business 380 overpass in Decatur by an accident involving an 18-wheeler three times in less than 24 hours. About 11 a.m. Sunday the cab of a southbound truck went over the guardrail forcing traffic to be rerouted along the service road. The driver did not require medical attention. Rainfall totals from the weekend as of 7 a.m. Monday include 6.85 inches in Boyd, 6.8 in Bridgeport, 6.7 in Chico, 5.8 in Runaway Bay, 4.9 in Decatur, 3.35 in Alvord and 2.5 in Slidell. There is an 80 percent chance of more rain today, and the area remains under a flash flood watch through tonight.
TOUGH FRIDAY - Wise County football teams might rather forget the results from the third week of the season as no team won Friday night. Valley View defeated Alvord 41-20, Glen Rose beat Boyd 21-7, Prosper blanked Bridgeport 24-0, Archer City topped Chico 47-0 and Aubrey shut out Paradise 41-0. The Decatur/Argyle Liberty Christian game was originally postponed from Friday to Saturday due to weather, but the rainy weather eventually forced the cancellation of the game.

Texas District 61 Legislator Phil King will speak on GOPAK-TX and its goals of revitalizing the Texas Legislature as well as the 11 amendments to the state constitution on the general election ballot.
COMPUTER CLASS - Weatherford College Wise County is offering Microsoft Word in a Day Friday, Sept. 18, and Microsoft Excel in a Day on Friday, Sept. 25. DHS FFA - Students interested in joining the Decatur High School FFA chapter and their parents are invited to a hamburger meal at 5:30 tonight at the school. HEALTH FAIR - The Wise Regional Health System Harvest Health Fair is 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in front of the hospital. The free event will include health screenings, blood pressure checks, cholesterol checks, PSA testing (for men over 50), blood sugar checks, a kids fun area, face painting, cake walk and the Corporate Wellness Challenge where teams compete in an obstacle course.
