THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL - The Decatur Eagles will get a jump on the Friday night football action when they play Wichita Falls Hirschi at 7:30 tonight at Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium. Decatur is looking for its first win of the season against the 1-5 Huskies.

BOND INFO - Bridgeport ISD will hold a public information meeting at 7 tonight to discuss the district's November 3rd Bond Election. The meeting will be at the district training room located in the Alternative Learning Center (former cafeteria in the old elementary building) at 1101 17th Street.

BOOK SALE - The Bridgeport Public Library book sale sponsored by the Library Booster Club is today through Saturday. Hardback books are $1, and paperbacks are 50 cents. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon a bag of books will be $1. Hours are today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

135 YEARS OLD - Hopewell Baptist Church at 280 County Road 2391 in Alvord will celebrate the 135th anniversary of the founding of the church along with the dedication of the new sanctuary Sunday. A pot luck lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service at noon. The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. The Hopewell Cemetery Board will have its annual meeting at the church following the afternoon services.

SOFTBALL - The 12-and-under Batbuster Girls Select softball team is holding tryouts/open practice 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Bridgeport softball fields. For information call Tim at (817) 694-7909.

SALE - The Rhome Women's Club $1 sale is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17 at 145 First St. in Rhome. Items include clothing, knick knacks, small electrical items and some furniture. Money will benefit a Northwest senior.

CHALLENGE - Wise Electric Cooperative has challenged other Wise County businesses in a food drive to benefit the Wise Area Relief Mission. Call Lillie Hunt at 627-2167 to take part. A custom trophy goes to the winner. Food will be collected Nov. 6.

BOOSTER CLUB - The Decatur Booster Club meets at 7 a.m. tomorrow at Prada Bistro.

SINGLE CLUB - North Texas Singles Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Hot Skillet in Alvord. The club has a private room for the meeting. For more information call (940) 872-6627 and leave a message.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE - The Texas Neighborhood Services Utility Assistance Program has money available for utility assistance in Wise County. The office, located at 300 N. Trinity, Ste. B in Decatur, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

HEART GALLERY - The Heart Gallery, presented by CASA, will be displayed at First Financial Bank in Decatur today. The gallery features pictures of children available for adoption.

GOLF BENEFIT - A golf benefit for the Breast Cancer Three Day Walk will tee off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Runaway Bay Golf Course. Cost is $80 per player. There will be prizes and a dinner. For more information call (940) 399-9516.

BANDS TO MARCH - Four Wise County high school marching bands participate in the annual UIL region marching contest Saturday at Collins Stadium in Denton. The four Class 2A bands will be marching as follows: Chico at 10 a.m., Alvord at 10:15, Boyd at 11 and Paradise at 11:15. This is an advancement year for 1A, 2A and 4A, so spots in the area contest Oct. 24 will be on the line. Bridgeport marches at 1:15 p.m. Decatur and Northwest will compete Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Texan Stadium at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., respectively. It's not an advancement year for those three.

COOKING - Grace Baptist Church of Decatur is taking orders for smoked turkeys, hams and briskets to be cooked on Nov. 20. Meats may be picked up that evening at the church parking lot. Turkeys are $30, Hams - $35 and Briskets - $40. All proceeds go to the Grace Baptist Benevolence Fund. To order, call (940) 627-7558.

FUNERALS - Service for Patricia Ann Quinones, 74, of Alvord is 10 a.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Chapel. Graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday at Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.

FUNERAL for Cecil Wood, 89, of Decatur is 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.
