BREAKING NEWS - CATTLE CHASE ENDS IN SHOOT OUT - A man stole an 18-wheeler loaded with cattle in the Keeter area at 5:40 p.m. Sunday. The man proceeded to lead a squadron of sheriff's deputies, state troopers and police officers on a half-hour chase. They raced down numerous county roads and onto Highway 114 through Paradise and Bridgeport at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. Just south of Bridgeport on FM 920 officers shot out the radiator and several tires on the speeding truck. The truck rode into a ditch and the suspect jumped out. He was apprehended moments later. There were no known injuries to the officers, cattle or the suspect.
FOOTBALL - The Decatur Eagles won their first game of the year last night in Wichita Falls. The Eagles beat Wichita Falls Hirschi 17-6 to even their district record at 1-1. Tonight's football lineup features a couple of match-ups of Wise County teams. The 4-2 Alvord Bulldogs will travel south to take on the 2-4 Boyd Yellowjackets, and in a match-up of two teams looking for their first win, the Chico Dragons will host the Paradise Panthers. Bridgeport (2-4) will host Iowa Park (3-3) and Northwest (0-6) will host Keller (3-3). GOLF BENEFIT - A golf benefit for the Breast Cancer Three Day Walk will tee off at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Runaway Bay Golf Course. Cost is $80 per player. There will be prizes and a dinner. SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS - Applications for Rhome's Spirit of Christmas are now available at Rhome City Hall at 105 W. First St. Applications must be returned to city hall by Nov. 20. The program provides toys and clothes for economically disadvantaged children. It is sponsored by the city of Rhome and Rhome United Methodist Church.
HEALTH CARE - The VA North Texas Health Care will offer a Health Care Outreach for all military veterans 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Family Clinic in Bridgeport. Flu shots, glucose/cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, VA counseling, educational resources, women's health, home care and enrollment into the VA healthcare will be available.
