CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING - Robert Worley, 73, the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd died from carbon monoxide poisoning yesterday. Worley and his wife were found asphyxiated from carbon monoxide in their home at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday. Worley and his wife, Jerry Worley, 74, were transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. Jerry Worley was then flown to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. She died Monday afternoon. Funeral for Robert Worley is pending at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. According to information released by Boyd Police Monday morning, a vehicle was left running in the garage, and Boyd police smelled the odor of vehicle exhaust inside the home. The statement from Boyd police said, "Although there are no signs of foul play, the investigation continues as a questionable death." The Texas Rangers and Wise County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.
MONDAY MORNING SPILL - A rock hauler dumped its entire gravel load onto U.S. 380 eastbound in front of Xtreme Transport around 7 a.m. today. The gravel spill caused a pickup truck to lose control, cross the median and wind up upside down in the westbound lane. Asucena Delgadillo, 28, of Bridgeport suffered serious injuries in the rollover. She was transported via helicopter to a hospital in Fort Worth. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction as the mess was cleared.
COLLEGE TAX - County commissioners meet at 9 a.m. tomorrow to consider levying the branch campus maintenance tax for Weatherford College that was approved by voters last November. Weatherford College officials have requested commissioners set the tax at five cents per $100 valuation. The meeting is open to the public and on the third floor of the courthouse.
FOOD DRIVE - Home Health Care in Bridgeport is holding a food drive to benefit WARM and the Bridgeport Food Pantry. The drive runs today through Oct. 16. FLU SHOTS - The Texas Department of State Health Services Mineral Wells Field Office Seasonal Flu Clinic for adults will be at the Decatur First United Methodist Church 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Cost of vaccine is $10 per injection. TDSHS will file Medicare Part A and B, so there will be no charge for individuals with Medicare A and B. They do not file Medicare part D, but they can administer an injection for the $10 fee.
HEALTH FORUM - The Health Forum meets at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Decatur City Hall Community Room. The agenda includes planning for the next health fair in April 2010 and for a Wise County Community Health Assessment survey for fall 2009.
HISTORICAL MEETING - The Wise County Historical Society meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Heritage Museum in Decatur. Dr. Ron Marcello will discuss the new military history program at the University of North Texas. He will be accompanied by Mike Campbell with the Texas State Historical Association which just moved its office from Austin to Denton.
