1 dead after striking guardrail in Rhome


A Wichita Falls resident died after her car hydroplaned and struck a guardrail on U.S. 81/287 in Rhome, Wednesday afternoon.

Cynthia Thompson, 54, was driving southbound on U.S. 81/287 with two other occupants in the vehicle when the vehicle lost control, said Rhome officer Brody Brown.

After hydroplaning and striking the guardrail, the car came  to rest in the median just north of Farm Road 3433.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other occupants, Brandon Bush, 36, and Jerry Johnson, 30, just suffered minors scrapes from the accident.
