TODAY'S UPDATE
RISING WATER - Storms dumped several inches of rain across Wise County yesterday and overnight. Some residents reported seeing cloud rotation at times yesterday afternoon, and the Decatur storm sirens were sounded around 4:30 p.m. There were no reports of major damage. Several minor accidents were reported during the storm, including a jackknifed 18-wheeler on U.S. 81/287 near Business 81/287 south of Alvord. There were no reports of injuries. As the rain continued to fall overnight, water rose over many roads, leaving several motorists stranded as they tried to make their way to work this morning. Reports included one foot of water over the roadway at Texas 114 and Farm Road 718 in Aurora. Several cars also stalled on U.S. 81/287 north of Decatur. A flash flood watch remains in effect for Wise and Denton counties until 8:15 a.m. A flash flood warning remains in effect through tomorrow morning. Rainfall amounts include 6 inches in Slidell, 5.78 in Decatur, 4.5 in Aurora and Runaway Bay, 3.05 in Alvord and 2 in Bridgeport. The rain is expected to continue throughout the day.
