Rottner, Smith, Eagles claim 7-3A golf titles

Decatur’s Dylan Rottner captured the District 7-3A individual medal for a second straight year Thursday and led the Eagles to a league title.
Rottner followed up Wednesday’s opening-round 76 with a 74 in the second round to win the tournament at Woodhaven Country Club by six strokes over Bridgeport’s Kameron Brazier.
Decatur won the tournament, shooting a 653 in the two rounds. The Eagles were five strokes ahead of runner-up Burleson Centennial.
Decatur’s Eric Gage helped his team capture the title with a second-round 78. He finished with a 159 to tie for third. He claimed third outright, beating Centennial’s Maki Cameron in a one-hole playoff.
Decatur’s Blake Lindsay finished seventh with a 164. Dylan Erwin fired 180 and Charlie Shannon 185.
Bridgeport took third with a 698. Brayden Garrett shot 176. T Gardner and Dylan Benham had 182s. Scott Trinkel fired 184, and Raby Hawkins 195.
Decatur’s White team finished fourth with a 704. Jansen Alker took ninth overall with a 166. Hayden Walker shot 174, Josh Murphy 181, Matt Jones 183, Elliot Moon 193, and Kyle Hubbard 200.
Bridgeport’s Cassi Smith won the 7-3A girls individual medal, shooting 183 in her two rounds. She finished up with a round of 89.
The Sissies’ Tiffany Hawkins took second with a 194.
Bridgeport finished second as a team with a 906. Centennial won the 7-3A crown with an 880.
Remi Swenson shot 244 for the Sissies. Jessica Windham fired 285, and Cassidy McKibben 304.
