NO. 1 ALVORD ROUTS FARMERSVILLE – The top-ranked Alvord Lady Bulldogs ended the first quarter on a 17-0 run to pave the way for a 67-30 win over Farmersville Thursday in the opening round of the Aubrey Tournament. Jordan Ward scored 16 points, made eight steals, dished out seven assists and grabbed eight rebounds. Chelsey Steele and Marissa Schedcik added 10 each. In other girls action, Decatur opened the Farm Bureau Invitational with a 47-30 win over Boswell behind 18 points from Murphy Graham, and 17 from Joey Redwine. Decatur also beat Keller Central 50-22.Boyd topped Pantego Christian 55-37 with Chelsea Landes scoring 21, and Shae Williams 17.
EAGLES SHOOT DOWN RIVERSIDE – Decatur senior Austin Lamirand buried five three-pointers and poured in 27 points Thursday to lead the Eagles to a 69-32 win over Carter-Riverside at the Farm Bureau Invitational. In other boys action, the Chico Dragons won a pair of games at the Chico Invitational Thursday. Gabby Rohan scored 18 points to lead the Dragons to an 81-41 win over Gold-Burg. Rohan had 14 points in Chico’s 66-32 victory over Prairie Valley. Paradise opened the Poolville Tournament with a 51-19 win over Archer City. Alvord topped Lipan 53-38 in Poolville behind 25 points and 16 rebounds from Trevor Hardee. The Bulldogs also edged Millsap 63-61 with Hardee scoring 36 points. Slidell earned wins at the Perrin Tournament, 65-35 over Newcastle and 56-24 over Perrin.
