Decatur takes consolation at tourney

The Decatur Lady Eagles won the consolation championship Tuesday with at 41-26 victory over Ferris at the Lake Country Tournament.
Decatur improved to 5-2 on the season.
Allie Handlon made the all-tournament team. She had four points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals against Ferris.
Bobbi Clemmer led the Lady Eagles with 17 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Joey Redwine added six points and seven boards.
Decatur jumped out to an 18-5 lead and held a 26-13 halftime advantage.
Ferris pulled within five at the end of the third quarter, 31-26. The Lady Eagles then turned up the work on the defense in the final frame, holding Ferris scoreless. Decatur poured in 10 to secure the 15-point win.
Before meeting Ferris, the Lady Eagles topped Denton Calvary 47-29.
Decatur put the game away in the second quarter with a 14-3 run to build a 25-7 halftime lead. Both teams scored 22 in the second half.
Redwine led Decatur with 15 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Clemmer added eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.
