Hounds run by Dragons

After facing their largest deficit of the night, four, early in the third quarter, the Slidell Greyhounds responded with a 16-2 run to close the frame.
The extended run paved the way for the Greyhounds’ 52-34 season-opening win over the Chico Dragons Tuesday in Chico.
Slidell earned the win in Todd McCormick’s debut on the Greyhounds’ bench.
Dylan Carnes led Slidell with 14 points, scoring 10 in the second half. Daniel McCasland joined him in double figures for the Greyhounds with 12, including eight in the third.
Dylan Hightower led Chico with 14. Hightower’s three-pointer to start the third quarter followed by Devin Turner’s layup gave Chico a 26-22 lead. The Dragons scored just two more points in the frame.
Gabby Rohan added 10 points for the Dragons.
