The Decatur Lady Eagles kept their spot on the podium Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles finished third with 131 points in the Class 3A race at the University Interscholastic League cross country championships in Round Rock.
Lucas Lovejoy claimed a second straight state title with 38. La Vernia took second with 67.
The Lady Eagles’ third-place finish sent three of the team’s four seniors – Zuleima Palomo, Bianca Morrison, and Natalie Neighbors – out with a fourth trip to the podium.
Freshmen Nicole Neighbors led the Lady Eagles, running 12:47 on the tough, hilly 3,200-meter course at Old Settlers Park. Fellow freshman Nancy Torres took 30th in 12:48.
Morrison crossed the finish line in 13:10 for 46th. Morgan Haney ran 13:14 for 53rd. Natalie Neighbors was the fifth Lady Eagle, running 13:18 for 60th.
Bobbi Clemmer took 81st in 13:42, and Palomo 83rd in 13:49.
