The most successful powerlifting season ever recorded in Wise County came to a golden finish Saturday in Abilene where Paradise High School standout Nick Pike won the state championship in the 198.5-pound weight class when he lifted a personal record 1,470 pounds. The Panthers finished second overall in the team standings and the Lady Panthers were third last weekend to give the school the best year ever recorded in the area for any school. Four of the Paradise boys captured medals at the state meet. Seniors Justin Tucker (148.5) and Cody Webber (220.5) took home third-place honors, senior Caleb Page (181.5) broke a state record en route to taking fourth and freshman Jackson Cunningham set three new personal records in taking ninth overall.
