Sissies rebound against Vernon

The Bridgeport Sissies turned up their defensive intensity Saturday night and brought an end to their two-game slide in District 5-3A.
Bridgeport forced 26 turnovers on its way to a 63-49 victory over the Vernon Lady Lions at Bridgeport High School.
The Sissies used a 6-0 run at the end of the first half to build a 41-30 lead. Presley White capped the run with her second 3-pointer of the game. Bridgeport went 5-for-9 from outside the 3-point arc in the first half.
Bridgeport limited Vernon to just two field goals in the third quarter as it built a 17-point lead, 52-35.
The Sissies gained their largest lead of 22, 61-39, with 3:45 left on Audra Hart’s only basket.
Against mostly reserves, Vernon ended the game on a 10-2 run.
Bridgeport was led by Haley Meekins with 19 points. White added 14. Emily Price scored 11. Katie Samples had nine, Becca Logan seven, and Alyssa Homes one.
T-Keeyah Hall turned in 12 for Vernon.
